    RIP

    But lets face it nothing changed in the prisons because of him so he was a total failure in that role. The same people from the same areas still grow up to go to jail.

    God forbid anyone in the PDs would support anything which identified areas where people end up in jail rather than college and put in place plans to tackle that - ie if you grow up in Foxrock you end up in the law courts and if you grow up in Fatima Mansions you end up in the dock - is it too much to expect people growing up in Fatima Mansions have proper schools, youth centres, drug avoidance programmes, gardai help etc etc, job training, a local college etc etc?

    I enjoyed this part from his obituary in the Irish Times. He sounds like he would have been good craic to know:
