I think they realise that now and it would seem that in Brendan Boland's case that his father is tormented by the fact that he didn't.

But the priests had knowledge of further abuse and therefore knew that Smyth should have been stopped by the most effective means ie. the civil authorities.

On receiving the knowledge the triumvirate of priests continued their archaic process which resulted in no change in Smyth's activities.
They failed those children no matter how you spin it.
And Brady has to go. I am not calling for his arrest but he is simply a joke as somebody who assumes some kind of moral authority.

No. They are obliged to look after their children and if they feel that their child's best interests is served by not going to the police then that is their right.

The law is simple in this case, and the law cannot oblige a victim to testify against their attacker. Maybe the victim "should" testify, but there is no way in law to force them to do so and in many cases it would make their situation worse.

Please don' add to the myth being propagated by some posters here that these parents are involved in the cover-up.
