Did the Minister give any figure for the cost wasted in Garda time all over the country sitting around Courts due to an inefficient system he is responsible for?
iirc the annual wasted figure for that easily fixable scandal is over €20 milllion.

What difference would it make? According to Briain O'Cathain, an oil company executive speaking on Primetime this week, the delays caused by the protestors have cost Shell an extra €3 billion. Since they are entitled to set this off against their profits before the State gets anything back, the protestors have in fact cost the State €3 billion. If Shell were also given the bill for policing I'm sure the same thing would apply. The taxpayer will take the hit either way.
This is an ongoing sell out by the state of peoples rights to a multinational company. The state's police force have continued to show an inability to be impartial in their brutal treatment of people who are trying to protect their homes and land. If this was happening in D4, it would be so different. The whole thing is shameful. Has anybody seen the documentary film "The Pipe" ? It is a real eye opener. Shatter and his gang of Blueshirts are continuing this criminal behavior started by the last corrupt regime.
How does a company save tax on a write off if that company has no income, due to the fact that its found nothing?
We will get CT from Corrib, if the figures of €10bn sales comes to be true....
You really need to read and understand the legislation before spouting rubbish.

The breakdown of the figures is very interesting.
Firstly, we see that the gardai have recently been spending a lot less on policing the Shell sites than they were a few years ago. Why? Were the protests very different in 2010 than they were in 2007?
Secondly, there are major differences year to year in Travel and Subsistence spending. 2 million in 2007, 850 thousand in 2008. What happened?
Lastly, we could ask why the gardaí spent so much more on policing protests in years like 2007 when very few -in fact hardly any- people were convicted of offences, than the subsequent years when people were jailed?
Surely if there the protesters needed that much policing, some of them might be expected to be charged with something?
