Is it time for a real debate on immigration?

The recent preliminary census results jumped ahead of expectations, despite Irish men and women leaving this country in their droves. Yes birth rates are at a high, but across the water they expect their immigrants to have higher birth rates than the nationals, why should it be any different over here in Ireland.

Poland seems to be doing just very fine economically, recently in a debate on a radio show a while ago, a Polish contributor commented that the streets of Warsaw in their economic good times don't mirror the streets of Dublin as they pay pittens in social welfare or childrens allowance(11 euro a month)
Anyone that thinks that the deviants on the streets of Lagos or other African cities didn't hear of the Irish economic boom or easy generous welfare or council housing policy(33% Africans on the Fingal council housing waiting list) are naive.

Yes we are in a financial crisis, and yes VB,Pat Kenny,Primetime etc have saturated our media with debates on the economy every second day for the last three years, but where is our DEBATE ON IMMIGRATION?

A recent PrimeTime documentary showed that a Nigerian renting out taxi plates to people with no taxi licensse, suggestions the same man bribed the NCT testing centre with 50euro notes to pass dodgy taxis. Enough is enough, can we have a debate on immigrants and illegals soon, please?

Are these the images people want to see here?

I'm all for kicking out people we can't support.

Oh yes, people are fed up to the back bone with it, only have to wait outside any primary school to see why, any post office, or bank. There is a real hard lining of feeling and it's not going to disappear.

There wont be a serious debate on immigration, as the Irish spivs make a lot of money on exploiting immigrants.

It's simple: Allow legal immigrants who have been wholly beneficial and send back the illegals. Also, completely cut foreign aid to other countries and lets look after our own first. Most of the problems in this country are really self evident. We're quite like the States in that we have policies that no one likes, yet accept them.

If we have free movement of capital, why not free movement of people? Anything else would be hypocrisy.

At the ultimate expense of Irish workers and people?
There has to be limits even within the EU to the requirements under the EU regime. In addition, indefinitely entertaining non-EU welfare migrants is not a requirement of the EU regime, is it?

The middle class liberal pr##ks go to sleep every night saying to themselves that they live in a multi- cultural society. Big smile on their face and a warm feeling in their stomach. Pat Kenny told them that they will become more oirish than the oirish.

And when the penny drops that this is becomming a flood these same middle class liberal pr##ks will become the most right wing.

What I don't understand is why do we have so many non eu-immigrants here? As soon as they get here they claim refugee status. Yet how did they get here directly? Most of them must have arrived via another EU country, so why not claim asylum there?
