    Quarryvale phase of Mahon tribunal

Got it from a usually very reliable source ( FF family member ) that all the stops will be pulled out to ensure that evidence in relation to some very top brass in the party will not be heard this side of the election.

The Tribunal has stated that it will shut up shop two weeks before election day. Therefore, with it re-commencing at the end of next month, the GE could be brought forward by a week or two.

As an aside, I firmly believe that Brian Cowen will either be Fianna Fail Leader or Taoiseach (and FF leader) by the Autunm.

The Mahon Tribunal will resume at the end of next month after Mr Owen O'Callaghan lost his challenge in the Supreme Court yesterday (30/03/07) against the proceedings into matters relating to the building of the Liffey Valley shopping centre on the lands at Quarryvale, West Dublin.

An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, will be called to awnser questions on how large lump sum payments entered his bank account in 1994.
During recent relevations Mr. Ahern claimed that he lodged IR£50,000 into his bank account in late 1994. This money he claims came from a "loan" he received from several of his associates in Dublin around the same time. Another portion he claims came from a "gift" from several businessmen in Manchester, England.

Mr Thomas Gilmartin will claim that Mr Ahern was given two lump sum payments of IR£50,000 and IR£30,000 from Mr Owen O'Callaghan who was then developing the lands at Quarryvale. In December 1994, Mr Ahern, the then Minister of Finance, gave the lands at Quarryvale special tax designation. This decison was heavily criticised at the time.

Mr Ahern denies receiving the money from Mr O'Callaghan. All the above information/allegations have been publised/broadcast before.
