I find it disappointing that Ireland's new Muslin community - at least at that mosque, does not seem to be making a jump and a leap away from the more backward notions that you can find in the Middle East and north Africa.

Why would they though ?

It hasn't been the case elsewhere in Europe as demonstrated by the channel 4 hidden mosque documentary.

bob3344 - you have jumped the gun a bit there when I was talking about one particular place in Dublin this afternoon. There was no talk like that from ''Undercover Mosque''.

I just wondered if there was other things that a sermon could be given about to muslims who look like most of whom have grown up in Muslim countries where there is enough of that talk about Israel and Palestine.

The reason I was surprised a bit is that was how he just started off and spoke of nothing else for 40 minutes - then went straight to the main prayers.

I can think of more appropriate things to talk about, especially to young muslim men who are away from their families in a new countrty like Ireland.

But anyway - it's a nice place to go on a friday - I did it too about five years ago when I was here last.
