How about changing the thread title to '7 arrested in alleged Al-Qaeda murder plot'?

Let's not prejudice anyone's right to a fair trial if things do get that far.

Lets be clear. Ireland has a a de facto open door immigration policy and we also have a hopeless track record on enforceing law and order.

Inevitably, we will become a playground for international crime.

I appreciate that the idea of islamic jihad being waged from Waterford is off the wall
but ladies and gentlemen, this is a serious development.
Agreed, in time it will be local "activities", that will be targeted. This is over cartoon - let us not forget that.

this is probably one of many groups of such heroes around Europe knocking together prit stik plots to get this cartoonist. All trying to be heroes.
I mean, how many extremists does it take to kill a cartoonist?

Right under my nose too! Lets see what comes out in the wash.. I was wondering what the consequences of so many adherants of the religion of peace settling in town would be. Guess we have the answer.

I think Ireland is a quiet & also an easy location for Al- Qaeda members to meet and organise things without any kind of hindering as it's in some other countries.

Maybe they suspect that we are soft on immigrants which would enable them to work openly or in underground without any surveillance.Ireland doesn't have the means & the funds to mount a full surveillance on terrorism/counter terrorism.

It will be interesting to see if all those who demanded we 'do not judge without proof' as regards the Dubai contract killing, will be quite so scrupulous in this particular case.
