Your assumption being that immigrant haters are inevitably Catholic and heterosexual? That is interesting.
No, it's just highly unusual that immigrant haters tend to hate the majority ethos. Unless you believe that Catholic heterosexuals are a minority in the country, which begs the question: What the hell sort of social circles are you moving in???

Barry, you're a fool, but you're just one of many who have replied to my posting, questioning the veracity of the account. Nils' (aka Kev408) e-mail is another example of attacking the source of a story in utter ignorance. Nils (aka Kev408, or whatever other flag of convenience you're writing under today), if you wanted to check the report, how come you wouldn't have the intelligence to buy the Irish Daily Mail yesterday? It's only 30 cents. If you weren't interested in the report, why did you take the time to scribble a completely inane posting, which merely showed that you're too lazy to check the sources.

Incidentally 30 cents is one of the reasons why I buy the IDM. The Irish Times costs 500% more, just to read the same old arrogant gang --Waters and his crew of clowns--that unchallenged dominate "opinion" in this country. The other reason is that the IDM is the only newspaper that challenges the Mass Immigration Very Good Thing consensus that has bedevilled this issue for years.

But returning to the topic... For your information--and I really shouldn't have to do this for idiots like Barry and his kneejerking buddies--the report was an account of a case at Letterkenny District Court. The Nigerian lout did not contest the Garda's evidence in court. The court did hear "a word from the man himself". Perhaps because of his guilty plea, he was given only 28 days in jail.

Justice would have demanded that he spend not one day in jail, but rather 12 hours on a flight to Lagos (one-way ticket, please, even though I know they cost more!).
Paypal, do you not get embarrassed when you read back on your hysterically racist posts and realise that you spend half your time trying to figure out who is using what handle each day? I'm no-one but Kev408. Your paranoia explains your fear of immigrants. Next you'll be suggesting that I'm that simple-minded gob************************e who spouted reams of ************************e last year...what was his name....oh yeh George Dillon.

Well, I guess that's true. But I think it's illegitimate to infer that dislike or suspicion of a minority constituted by nationality or ethnicity is a predictor of dislike for minorities constituted by sexual orientation or religion.

In the strange social circles I move in, I have come across prejudices against foreigners held by members of the other minorities you mention.

I have friends who think immigration is good, I have friends who think it's bad, and others, maybe the majority, who don't care either way. But I don't think I've ever met anyone who hated imigrants. You have? Where? Socially? At work? Among your family? What kinds of things did they say, assuming that you can repeat them here. I'm just curious, because I've never met the kind of people you're talking about so I wonder am I mixing in a different circle to "all the immigrant haters".

Mostly canvassing, and nearly always with that tired oul caveat " I'm not a racist, but...."

At work I get a lot of "they get special treatment" and one particular former staff member who was (Bizarrely) irate when an Indian employee turned up in an Ireland shirt the day of a match. The Indian did torment the guy, however, by pledging to begin to learn Irish so that he could converse with this fella in "your native tongue."

I know personally of two Filipino girls who have been physically attacked by drunken Irish girls who used racial abuse. I also know of one Irish Filipino six year old who has refused to speak his native tongue after been abused in school for not being "Irish."

Oh yes, I wanted clarification on this issue earlier on. Is 'Paypal' the same user as 'georgedillon'???

Smiffy, I see you've returned. Can you enlighten us?

    Mac:

I fear you have it all confused. Kev408 and Smiffy are one and the same person. That person has a number of pseudonyms here, perhaps as many as half a dozen. He spends most of the day writing postings under different mastheads. It never bothered me, because I deal with postings, not the poster, though I envy him his job that allows him to waste time all day.
I wouldn't worrry too much about what flag of convenience he (they) is sailing under, after all we're all flying monikers, aren't we?
