McDowell wants to stop Mahon Tribunal

I see Michael McDowell wants to close down the Mahon Tribunal on the grounds of cost. He questioned whether it was worthwhile as the Tribunal costs are set to top €1 billion. Given that corruption in the planning process was, and possibly remain, endemic, the public will see the Mahon tribunal as worthwhile when the law is actually enforced and those who were heavily involved in the corruption of the planning process are put on trial. Because up to now, it is the same old story in Ireland - a total lack of law enforcement. It is very depressing.

It's time McDowell draw up a bill dealing with corruption in politics. Only then can he start talking about drawing the tribunal to a close.

Yeah, just proves even more what an FF puppet McDowell now is. Must be the only example in history of a person actually neutering himself.

Simply put - if the tribunals are not delivering the kind of results that warrant such expenditure e.g. prosecutions, law reform, "cleaner" politics, better society.......then wind the whole lot of them up !!

If someone sneezes these days there is a tribunal about whether they covered their face, used a hanky and the potential dispersal of germs.

We don't need them - time to move on.
Those who think they know it all upset those of us that do.........

Does that mean that the tribunal should be wound up before the Quarryvale Module deals with just how Clondalkin's Town Centre was scuppered in favour of the N4/M50 junction, which is demonstrably nowhere the centre of anywhere except two major roads? If so, who's this "we" you're talking about?
Stand for election or get yourself selected as a candidate. Failing that, manage a successful campaign. Then you can come the big man anywhere. Not before.
