    Legalize the Irish

    We're Nearly There!

Thanks to all your hard work over the past 11 months, we are on the verge of a historic victory in our battle to Legalize The Irish.

Incoming Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told CNN this week that he plans to introduce a comprehensive immigration bill at the beginning of the new Congress. He said the bill would include a guest-worker program and a path to citizenship for undocumented workers already in the US.

This bill - unlike any current bi-lateral visa program - is the only way our undocumented Irish can change their status.

If you support this idea, please make your voice heard at the rally in the Bronx tomorrow night (Fri, Dec 1) where Senator Charles Schumer will be making his first public statement on immigration.

Senator Schumer is in charge of picking the Democratic battles and this is a huge opportunity to let him know how important immigration reform is to the Irish.

Come All, Come Early! Refreshments and music provided.

Other speakers include ILIR Vice Chairman Ciaran Staunton and NY House Representative Anthony Weiner.

    Time: 7.30pm
Venue: High School Auditorium, St Barnabas, Bronx, 10470 (click here for directions)
(Corner of McLean Ave and 241st Street)

Anyone in the NYC area please try to attend showing solidarity and support.
"The hope of a secure and livable world lies with disciplined nonconformists who are dedicated to justice, peace and brotherhood."
    Martin Luther King, Jr.

I'm against illegal immigration, be it in Ireland, USA or anywhere else.

Paypal is right. They're called "illegal" immigrants for a reason.

I think president bush should give them two years each and they must
Make sure that they're economically viable before getting the final three
Years that will allow them to naturalise as american citizen or indefinite
leave to remain after that three years if they're decline of the citizenship
Just like the way we did to immigrant in ireland i think.

Good one, angelcountry. That punchline cracked me up...
Heavy words are so lightly thrown.
