Gay Mitchell now Paddy Power's favourite to win Presidential Election, Norris now 4th

Gay Mitchell is Paddy Power's favourite to win the forthcoming Presidential election, David Norris was previously the favourite but has now moved to fourth position with Micheal D. Higgins and Pat Cox ahead of him.

    15/8 Gay Mitchell
    9/4 Michael D.Higgins
    7/2 Pat Cox
    9/2 David Norris
    10/1 Mairead McGuinness
    12/1 Niall O'Dowd
    12/1 Fergus Finlay
    16/1 Mary Davis
    22/1 Brian Crowley
    40/1 Martin McAleese
    40/1 Sean Gallagher
    50/1 Kathleen O'Meara
    100/1 Jackie Healy Rae
    100/1 Mary Lou McDonald
    150/1 Mary White (FF Senator)
    200/1 Dermot Mulqueen
    250/1 Eddie Hobbs
Mitchell is now (obviously) the favourite to secure Fine Gael's nomination.

    9/4 Pat Cox
    11/2 Mairead McGuinness

Interesting that Higgins now is regarded as more likely than Norris. His campaign is truly falling apart. Mitchell would be an excellent President and will benefit from the fact he stands for something.

    How Depressing.....Gay Mitchell

    I'm disappointed in you Ireland.

No offence to the gentleman but he's hardly going to set the world on fire with excitement.

He's like an awkward uncle at a wedding.

Pretty sad if Gay Mitchell is the best the country can come up with.

You'd rather someone more exciting? Someone more into Pedophilia or something is it?

Its about time Ireland copped on and started elected politicians who are honest. One thing you can't say is that Mitchell is not an honest, straight talking politician.

If you feel that strongly about it, perhaps you should consider getting active on another candidate's campaign.

Are you accusing the others of being dishonest, or is it that you just prefer the message he is delivering and therefore you perceive him to be honest and straight talking?

You also have to factor into the betting the likelihood of getting the nomination. Norris at 9/2 is reflecting that he has a job to get the nomination unlike the FG/LAB eventual candidate. IF Norris makes the starting blocks then 9/2 would look like value. Ditto if you think Higgins/Mitchell are a certainty for their party nomination they are also value at present.
