    It's all in there.

The life and death of Seamus Costello is a book in itself.. has the makings of a good movie too.

I remember canvassing in Bray for Liz McManus and the Shinners and FF hacks used to take great joy in shooting across the road at Liz about "Where are guns buried" and various other digs about the Costello murder.. strange days indeed.
    Any hits?

    Did Liz mention this?

"The RUC was helpful to the programme makers, although one high-ranking officer informed them that a superior had instructed him that his interview — in which he accepted that much criminal activity previously attributed to the INLA had in fact been carried out by the Officials — could not be broadcast. The claim of an “unspoken RUC policy not to embarrass the Officials” by not naming people as members in court, was broadcast, but other claims, including one that armed OIRA men were sometimes allowed through RUC ro******************************************s, were not.

Cronin developed the view that the OIRA was “a protected species” in Belfast and that “their criminality was often overlooked by the NIO [Northern Ireland Office] and RUC”.

Just finished reading the book. Biggest take away is the brass-neckery of all involved. Political murder north and south, racketeering, informing, setting people up fir murder, collusion with loyalist paramilitaries ...

And all the while they were (and remain) on the high moral ground about physical force.

Witness that once the DL was formed , de Rossa refusing to even answer questions about group B. Or right to the present day and Harris ranting weekly about Provos and their pasts, hiding in full view his ideological leadership of a force that supported the soviet communism empire and murdered political opponents in Ireland.

    Outstanding levels of hypocrisy ...
