Coz they were anti-republican political loonies and gangsters, who illegally operated even more political censorship than prescribed by S31 [as the Larry O'Toole case proved], which suited FF/FG/LP perfectly.

They were both on the Army Council. Goulding was CS at time.

What about the £5 note wing of the party/army? Didnt that lad Lynch from Cork head for east Germany and has anyone seen or heard from him since? How is the Labour Party being funded these days?

    Maybe he's Chef d'Cabinet?

Just because Gilmore, Rabbitte, Lynch and Frankie may have fought elections funded by all sorts of shady methods - counterfeiting, bank robberies, North Korean slave labour - that is all in the past and we know how magnanimous the stickie Labour leadership have been to the Shinners. Forgive and forget

Have they been funded by those sources or have they been magnanimous?

    (a) Yes - without their knowledge obviously, innocents abroad as they were!

    (b) No

When you control the national broadcaster, its easy not to be magnanimous and a hypocrat.
As many of the sticky journalists who were under Harris wing are still employed by RTE, is it safe to assume they still have a Labour leaning anti republican bent/agenda?

As for this new book, whats the betting that Harris has already written his response and who cares to guess what form that response will take? - "written by a couple of hush-puppy provos". - I cant wait, it will probably be the most entertaining thing about the book!

One example of a hold-on from the 1980s is the guy who does the 1 p.m RTE radio news program on Sundays.

Can't remember, his name (he has a slight speech defect, if that helps identifying him) but he's been around since the worst of the Harris days, and eagerly operated the censorship system for years. He should have been fired long ago.

Prionsias de Rossa was asked about him years ago and said he "disappeared from the face of the earth"

Was told this morning that that guy famously berated the Wolfe Tones on the Late Late Show one night. Would love to see a clip if available.
