I got my copy a few days ago and am thoroughly enjoying it. It's very well written. Recommended.

Sorry, I was at work today. Somebody has to pay for dole scroungers like yourself.

Yes, I would read the book. I'm sure it's very good, though I know enough about the Stickies to harbor an intense dislike of them and I don't think any particular revelation in the book will somehow change that.

That is heresy. Pure and simple. The Workers' Party and related organizations e.g. the 'British-Irish' Communist Organization (now Athol Books with its premier publiction being the Irish Political Review.) and C.P.I., Conor Cruise O'Brien and Jim Kemmy's Democratic Socialist Party (of Ireland) were all adherents of the so-called 'Two Nations Theory'. The Workers' Party has absolutely no time for Sinn Féin incidentally, their leadership are stuck in the 1970s thinking that communist North Korea is a workers' paradise.

A crucial difference between traditionalist republicans like Sinn Féin and the Workers' Party was that the latter supported the totalitarian U.S.S.R. and defended it, such as the imperialist invasion of Czechoslovakia. Seán Mac Stiofáin and his colleagues were incorrigible conservatives, that's true. But they were staunch anti-imperialists.

The Workers' Party and its methods are abominable: its sinister entry-ism and strategic positioning amongst the media power-players. It's poisonous propaganda against the Republican movement, especially during the 1980s will not be forgotten nor forgiven. Ideological refugees from this discredited Stalinist movement like Paul Bew, Gerry Gregg and Eoghan Harris still wield disproportionate influence in Irish life.

    .
The C.P.I. for all its faults has always supported the Irish people's right to self-determination. It is not and has never been two nationist. Gerry Adams also praised socialist Albania at one time (1986 I believe).

Dont you support zionism? So much for staunch anti-imperialism....

Your name sake wrote this about the brillant book Ireland; the key to the British Revolution.

"All who read this book will understand the historic background to the revolutionary struggle in Ireland and will realise that those who exploit workers in England are also responsible for the long war in the North of Ireland. It is an invaluable contribution towards a principled solidarity movement against our common enemy."

Sean Mac Stiofain (Chief of Staff, Irish Republican Army 1969-1972).

My next book will either be this one or 'Showtime' by Pat Leahy.

    Which should I choose?

yeah - WP was , and still is , strictly Leninist. or rather Marxist-Leninist.

they had no time for Trotsky or Stalin.

very much an air of going back to the roots of the Russian revolution rather than what happened afterwards.

    thats my take on it.
