Loyalists who supported political status during troubles (youtube)

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-309z2Fs0mA&feature=related]YouTube - Loyalist reactions to the 1981 Hunger Strike (1/4)[/ame]

Interesting video on loyalist mentality about political status during troubles, something which is ignored historically.

    Loyalists considered joining protests .
Abstinence makes the Church grow fondlers.

Didn't some of the Hunger strikes make arguments for the
fair treatment of all NI Prisoners on Civil liberty grounds?

I remember the left-leaning Loyalists like Ervine and
Gary McMichael (who wrote for the Nationlist paper
Ireland on Sunday). Once the source of cautious optimism
among the Irish left, the UDP and PUP failed to make an
impression and the DUP ended up taking over the Unionist
    vote.
