Publisher scraps tale of Holocaust love

I find it hard to believe that anyone swallowed this story whole in the first place!

'No one is denying Rosenblat is a Holocaust survivor, only his account of how Radzicky helped keep him alive. According to Rosenblat, his love story began in the Schlieben concentration camp, part of the Buchenwald complex, in 1945. He tells how he saw Radzicky, then a child, hiding in a tree on the other side of the fence. Also Jewish, she was pretending to be a Christian and lived in the area. Rosenblat writes that she became his lifeline, throwing apples and bread to him over a barbed-wire fence.'

There are three stories on it

    This one.
    Toxic's One.
    The closed one.

Does anyone actually take an Oprah Recommendation on what to read, I
mean have people lost the ability to decide what they want to study
    and read?

Personally I like to choose my own reading material and do not watch telly,
as to the book she recommended I imagine there will be updates across two
threads (amongst the Jew Bashing and assorted anti-semite attacks that
have gone on for days and lack discussion on the issues save to abuse,
denigrate and attack jews as soft targets)

    apples

She might have put his eye out with one of those apples....its encouraging to ponder Oprah's tearful emoting (for her audience), all founded in the 'sincerity' and earnestness of facts that are wrong, truths that are-not (theres a certain twisted poetry in it!).

I would have reckoned Oprah as a pretty smart lady so I'm a bit surprised she fell for such an obvious spoof.

Does anyone know if she gets paid to 'recommend' books on her show or not?

The point here is that the world was duped by an opportunist, our own sympathies allowed us to believe a lie. This is not the first 'holocaust' fabrication, it is one in a long line of tall stories. My immediate concern would be how a people who suffered so much can so easily become the perpetrators of a violence that parallels their suffering, is this all that was learned?

Whole swathes of 'pretty smart' people fell for the 'Sadaam has WMDs' and 'hit us in 45 minutes' fables - humans have infinite capacities in this...

I dont know whether she gets a direct fee, as such, but Im sure she gets something approximating to equivalent value as provided in a very thorough and satisfying foot-rub.

More of a leg pull than a foot rub methinks...
