This week is the 40th anniversary of the May'68 riots in France.

Interesting to see that Daniel Cohn-Bendit AKA Danny La Rouge is now a Green Party member of the European Parliament.


I find his take on the European constitution - now reinvented as the Lisbon treaty a bit much

In 2003, during the Convention that prepared the text of the European constitution, Cohn-Bendit singled himself out by stating that the countries who would vote No should be compelled to hold a second referendum, and in case of a second No, should be expelled from the European Union.
This guy has come a long way.

On a related topic, doesn't Lisbon give countries unhappy with the EU the right to secede ? I can imagine
all the Little Englanders screaming for a "YES TO LISBON!"

He was a vacuous airhead when he was Danny the Red. He's still a vacuous airhead now that he's Danny the Green. Interesting that a lot of old leftie totalitarians, including our own, are now such devotees of a European super state!

Totalitarian? Stalin? Wasn't this the same 1968 movement that was crushed by Stalinist tanks in Prague and derided by the CGT and PCF in Paris? Hmm.. let's ignore the history shall we and make some lazy remarks!
