I'm afraid that the problem with you and others like you, is that you don't hold the Provos and their ilk to any standard at all. Meanwhile, you are more concerned at the lawful killings of these three murderous fanatics than you would have been at the mass-murder of their potentially numerous victims.

The Geneva Conventions had absolutely no relevance to the incident, as you well know.

No murder by british state just law and order as per rule of law and international standards. The absurdity of the last 50 years is that it is mainly sf/ira complaining about the brits. Sf/ira has given human rights a bad name.

In the wider scheme of things the political representatives of the PIRA have been accepted into the political systems of the two relevant states in a manner which suggests that their view that they were fighting a war has been accepted with freedom from prosecution and other very substantial concessions. Their supporters would do well to quietly forget about these kinds of incidents in that context also. If you were fighting a war it can hardly be a surprise that the others shoot back at you at a time of their own choosing-just as you have been doing. There's a funny kind of attitude that yes the PIRA were fighting a war but the SAS were not is it?

They were on their way to a band concert on the rock having been at the Felons the previous night to hear the Wolfe Tones.

While it's always better to capture and interrogate paraamilitaries there's a problem arises when faced with those who openly boasted of being able to remotely trigger an explosion. That they couldn't was only known after the event.

Well, you have to go with what you have sometimes, imagine if it had been correct and they did nothing?
So they ended up executing an unarmed woman in broad daylight. Foot on her neck while shooting her in the head.
Well to be strictly correct, they executed a known terrorist who they believed to be armed and posing a lethal threat. At least no innocent people were killed or injured.

Anyway, in the words of the great Windsor Davis:

"Oh dear, 'ow sad. Never mind".

They weren't murdered, they were lawfully killed.
