there are some parallels between brian boru and the present day brians. Boroimhe was a name given to him meaning Brian of the tributes. he basically taxed the bejesus out of his subjects. maybe lenihan and cowen could be renamed in the same fashion. Back to the movie it will no doubt be well n truly bravehearted. but thats hollywood for ya.

hopefully this movie will depict the battle of Tara as been the defining moment of borus career when he broke the vikings back so to speak as opposed to the "cleaning up " operation that was the battle of clontarf then people might start visiting the tara valley were the battle was fought before the bulldozers dig it up completely ................oh too late

'The Year of the French' - joint RTE/French Production for TV back in the late 1970s

    decent enough attempt IIRC.

Do you not mean the Battle of Glen Máma in 999 AD?

    - that was won by Brian and King Mael Sechnaill II against the Vikings of Dublin.

The Battle of Tara was won in 980 AD by King Mael where he defeated King Olaf of Dublin and he was forced into Exile.
