Frankly, I know Di Caprio will make Bóruimhe sound like he was from County Antrim given his performance as a supposed kerryman in Gangs of New York.
Now what part of Antrim would that be?

Belfast to be honest. No local country colour, just plain infuriating nasal belfastese.

You could play him yourself Riadach or direct the movie. You would have the knowledge of that period to serve up something authentic.

Sure that's what I was hinting at

The chainsaw dialect? perhaps - what is really odd is that the character was supposedly raised in an orphanage so if de caprio was to play in character he would have had a Noo Yoik accent more like his rival Bill The Butcher

A much more preferable situation. We have plenty of rough and tumble actors that can play this role, we don't need di caprio. I think he would be completely unsuited, just as Mr Farrell was to the role of Alexander. We need someone with a bit of an edge.

I don't really think DiCaprio is suitable for this role.In my view either Robert Carlyle or Russell Crowe would be more suitable actors for this part.

Arms like tree trunks, a fiery shock of red hair, name of homer!

i would vote for Brendan Gleeson, but as a poster said earlier, it needs a worldwide actor to recoup foreign investors money, so as long as its not Orlando Bloom, im happy

Liam Neeson then. And if anyone is interested, a propaganda account, cogadh gaedhel re galliabh, from the 12th century is available online at www.ucc.ie/celt.
