Nazis Still At Large?

I was somewhat surprised this evening to learn that a number of quite high level Nazi criminals remain on the run, amongst them Aribert Heim and Alois Brunner.

The 'ratlines' were made famous by Frederick Forsythe in The Odessa File. I thought that this was all history now, but it appears that there are still some sympathisers out there who are helping the remaining war criminals to escape justice. The Simon Wiesenthal Centre is running a project called Operation Last Chance which is trying to locate Nazis before they all die.

Does anyone know anything more about this? Was there ever any evidence of high-level Nazis escaping to Ireland?

These nazis dont travel under their own name. They more than likely have had plastic surgery and new ID's .

How would the Irish State with its lack of resources at the time know if someone was a nazi war criminal. If they slipped by the Americans and British, then they cant blame Ireland for having a few.

I have heard that Brunner is hiding out in Syria and is being protected by the govt of that country. Benyamin Netanyahu, in an address to the UN some decades ago, showed a photograph which he claimed was a villa where Brunner lived in Damascus, given to Brunner by the Syrian govt. It could be true. Or it could be political-propaganda. I think Australia has questions to answer as to why it refused to hand over Konrad Kalejs over his alleged war-crimes in Belarus in WW2.

If those Nazi's have a skill or knowledge another country will use then that country will turn a blind eye - I wouldn't be surprised if Israel used their knowledge to make its nuclear programme and the same for India and Pakistan.

When the Nazis are all dead maybe the Simon Wiesenthal Centre can turn it attention to Israel and hunt down some of the hundreds of war criminals in that state.

Get a grip KF. Maybe the UN might hunt down the war criminals in Africa or the war criminals in Muslim countries - on the scale of war criminals Israel is not in the game by a long way.

Pity Arabs didn't have the basic humanity to allow Jews to live in peace on 3% of so called Arab land and land which there is no dispute about the historical Jewish links to. After the Holocaust it was not too much to expect but no the Muslims first reactio nwas to respond with violence.

So get over blaming Israel for corruption and human rights abuses in Muslim countries and blame Islam for it.

According to RTE Albert Folens (schoolbook publisher) was involved with the Nazis.

No I just blame Israel for consistently shooting dead kids, always overreacting, behaving like a spoilt infant and killing 1,000 civilians last year in the Lebanon,.

The reality is that the Israel has no interest in securing peace, as that would involve real compromises and losing face. They have taken "Never Again" to its illogical conclusion.

perhaps somebody should investigate if there's any ex-Eastern Bloc regime fugatives hiding out in Montrose? it might explain a lot!

Just out of curiosity, what percentage of Palestinian land do you think "basic humanity" would mandate the Jews ought to have gotten?
