This week's edition of Scannal explores why nobody has stood trial in connection with the Hepatitis C blood scandal, in which approximately 1,000 women were infected, 146 of whom died. I've started this thread to provide the opportunity for opinions on the issue and reactions to the documentary.
The principle of compulsion means that the findings of a tribunal cannot be used as evidence in criminal prosecutions. Therefore, if the Garda investigation had taken place as soon as the scandal came to light instead of the Finlay and Lindsay tribunals, successful prosecutions might have taken place.
