    Why is the Easter Rising Commerated on Easter Sunday?

    The Rising started on Easter Monday, didn't it?

    I've always wondered that myself. In fact Easter changes every year right? So shouldn't it actually be the date, not the holiday.( although it was planned for Easter Sunday because people would be off the streets!)


    It is the type of thing you would expect from the govt though. They did stop having them for decades, then they surveyed those who did commemorate it, then they had a parade for 2006 with cringe worthy tv commentary and all that.

    Let's just hope it's tasteful and well done.
