Just listening to Gay Byrne on Newstalk talking about the memorial gardens at Islandbridge and how the were, wrongly, left fall into disrepair. He then spoke about how the likes of Tom Crean had to keep their heads down after the Tan War for obvious reasons.
However he then used the opportunity to describe the men who killed Crean's brother, an RIC man, as gangsters. The men involved in his death, along with 2 other RIC men in an ambush, were the same men who fought the brits to a standstill in west Cork, and lost many in the fight for freedom. Of course nobody on Newstalk pulled him up on his slur.
