What a bunch of twats!!The HSE has achieved a 28-fold increase in the number of primary care teams (PCTs) in development, with a stroke of a pen. In March, it had three PCTs in development, but increased this to 84 the following month.
According to the latest HSE Performance Report for May 2009, there are now 88 teams in development — 88 per cent of the annual target and a 4 per cent increase on the April position.
The secret to this turnaround is a simple redefinition of ‘in development’...

The reality seems to be HSE pays big rent to building owner (FF supporter - couldn't be!) for premises for the team. Local GP(s) move from existing surgery into centre - increase in rent leads to increase in normal fees. Non medical card holders pay the GP as they always did.
Access to other medical professionals in the 'team' like the physio unclear for non medical card holders. My local 'team' referred me to HSE as they were unclear. HSE would not provide a 'yes' or ''no' answer - it is based on medical need!
There is no difficulty accessing care in the community if you can pay - what do these teams add to local healthcare except a nice rent for the owners of the buildings in which they are located/
You generally get what you pay for.
