A Co Kilkenny mother has singled out Deputy Leader of the Green Party for praise in helping to find the €100,000 needed to perform a life saving operation on her child. The money has been privately donated the identity of whom is only known to the parents and Mary White TD. The child needs a life saving operation that could be performed at Crumlin Hospital however due to cutbacks and ward closures the operation was cancelled. The parents had been told that the child needed the operation as without life expectancy was just 6 months.
Speaking on South East Radio news the mother now said that funds had been provided from one person who wishes to remain anonymous. The child has npw been scheduled to have the operation in Great Ormond St on July 4th. Fund raising will continue in Graiguenamanagh where the child is from but she credited Mary White for ensuring that her child will now get the medical attention needed.
All very worthy but why should an Irish child take up resources in a UK hospital when the same operation can be performed here if only Deputy White ensured our hospitals were adequately resourced?
Congratulations to White on this. However, it is a pity that her support for the policies of Mary Harney will result in the unnecessary deaths of so many other little girls.
“The HSE plans to advance surgery for children with scoliosis, by scheduling further theatre sessions. This will help lower the numbers of children on waiting lists and help to improve the quality of life of those who are suffering.”
There is no point in scheduling further theatre sessions if there are no ICU beds for the children to go to after their operations
