FG man refuses to withdraw 'finger' jibe

A COUNCILLOR last night stood over his remark calling on Health Minister Mary Harney to "get her fat finger out" to resolve health issues in his county. Mayo Fine Gael councillor Austin Francis O'Malley made the remark at a meeting of the regional forum of the Health Service Executive in Galway. - Irish Independent

Meanwhile Harney yesterday referred to the A&E crisis as a national emergency.

You clearly underestimate the power I wield within the FG party CJ. I told Kenny to make him apologise whilst Enda was serving me brekky in bed this morning and ironing my newspaper. If I said it, its done.

On a more serious note, Harney has a fat finger, and said finger is indeed stuck somewhere when it comes to health service.
However an attack of this nature allows Harney and the PD's to swerve the substance of the attack bu focusing on the personal nature. The "fat" becomes the issue, not her record.
apologise for the remark, let it blow over in 2 minutes, and resume atacks on Harney and the PD's.

Bang out of order - I know the woman has a weight problem, but slagging off someone in that situation is pathetic. I'm no fan of Ms. Harney, but personal insults like this only make the insulter look bad.

Apologise, lets keep the insults political please!
If I could mass-sterilise the planet, I would. Seriously.

It would be more in her line to provide the nation with the report that's over five months overdue into how it was that Patrick Walsh "bled to death like a pig (the words of his nephew)" in a public hospital in this country.

That FG councillor should apologise, however i feel he felt the same disbelief i did, when he heard Mary Harney call the A&E crisis a 'National Emergency'!. where the hell has she been for the last number of years, this has been a problem as long as this goverment have been in power and now she has just noticed it.

I think she meant to say 'electoral emergency'.

McDowells continual abuse of his position and Harney's right-wing approach to health show the dangers of allowing a party that only has to satisfy a very small electoral base access to such power. It also shows the rank cowardice and dishonesty of fianna fail in the way they attempt to hide what are in fact their policies - they are the real power after all - behind the skirts of the PDs.

Though a PD member, I'm in no hurry for an apology. People of all parties should stop letting such jibes get to them, they shouldn't be so d-n sensitive they can't take insults.
