Statements have been made by Eoghan De Faoite regarding a huge Youth Defence Campaign which will focus on Munster
and Cork regarding their opposition to the UCC decision to allow Stem-Cell research on Campus in a vote (November 2008).
Youth Defence to run anti-stem cell adverts - The Irish Times - Tue, Feb 10, 2009
I find it hard to believe that someone who achieved their degree would threaten to hand it back in Protest at the Vote
to allow stem-cell research.Familiar as we all are with YD's use of image, the campaign will probably be both eye-catching and
wonderfully informative. I want to know who funds this Youth Defence Campaign ?
60,000 euros is a lot of money to run a 64 Billboard Campaign during a recession.
Also If a YD person would answer the First Question above, I do have another one regarding Campus Organisation and how precisely a
young pro-choice group was disallowed permissions to set up at UCC in the very recent past : The reason given was that there is already one
group concerned in the area of reproductive Rights in UCC. (!)
Nope, there isn't. There is a highly organised, apparently wealthy media-savvie bunch of Youth Defenders preventing
adequate discussion on the issues.
