    Cystic Fibrosis-Too white to cure

"The Carleton University Students' Association has voted to drop a cystic fibrosis charity as the beneficiary of its annual Shinearama fundraiser, supporting a motion that argued the disease is not "inclusive" enough.

Cystic fibrosis "has been recently revealed to only affect white people, and primarily men" said the motion read Monday night to student councillors, who voted almost unanimously in favour of it."

Not only is this disease racist it is sexist now as well! Political correctness reveals its sinister side. The full shocking story here.

Good article on it here where this guy points out the absurdity of this as women are also affected and members of other races.

Did they drop sickle cell anaemia as well I wonder as this mostly affects coloured people.
    How daft is this decision!!!

If we were not to seek cures for "minority" illnesses there would be an awful lot of people dead!!

just to relate to Ireland - CF one of the commonest inherited condition in Ireland - it is THE commonest life-shortening inherited disease here and we have the highest rate of carraige in the world - 1 in 25 are capable of passing it on to their offpsring while not suffering from it himself, meaning 1 in 2500 babies born here in Ireland have CF.

Just a glaring example that an education does not necessarily broaden the mind.

But maybe its the Canuck's idea of CHANGE . . .

My impression is that conditions that affect women more or exclusively (or nearly exclusively) get more money, it's more "acceptable" to fund them, etc. I wonder would they have been willing to have this motion if men was replaced with women (i.e. "has been recently revealed to only affect white people, and primarily women"). My guess is some would have been more reluctant to vote for such a motion.

The interesting thing about CF is that it's basically 50/50 from what I can see. An awful lot of conditions are more common in one gender than the other.

"Maybe I got it wrong when I said that about white people and Caucasians, but even then it is still racist for not getting non Caucasians."

I suppose that's why they get the opportunity to pay loads of VAT on tampons then!

When I use the word conditions, it was as a synonym for diseases/illnesses/similar. I can't see people fundraising for menstrual cycles. Compare and contrast how much fund-raising and donations there are for conditions like Breast Cancer and Prostate Cancer for example which, from what I've heard, kill similar numbers of individuals. Yet, the difference in the amount raised for each is large. Movember Movember Ireland - Home is an unusual event
