I thought it was kind of cool that they were in both languages. Why not.
Ireland is free for another day.
You´re way off topic, folks.
While it´s good to see Irish used on tobacco packs, it´s only because of a court case and the constitutional status of the language.
What we really need is bi-lingual packaging for goods such as breakfast serials and other food items. What better way to enjoy the language than by reading a bi-lingual box of Crunchy Nut in the morning, or reading the nutritional values of carton of milk.
In Spain we have many food items in Spanish, Greek and Portuguese, and there is no shortage of space on packaging.
Perhaps FnaG could assist some of our home-grown companies to develop bi-lingual packaging. It really wouldn´t cost much and would be a great way to promote the language.
I was in Lidols in Dungloe this July and Irish signage was non existent and Dungloe is a Gaeltacht area.
Is "Lidols" Lidl as gaeilge ? !
Its a typo - stop nitpicking.
