Good riddance to the HPV vaccine

Mounting concern about the safety of the HPV vaccine targetted at young girls may well have been a factor in Harney's decision to abandon her plan. Many people are reporting a wide array of side-effects from them. There are serious questions about the trials on which claims for the vaccine were based - with only a small sample of those involved from the relevant age group to whom they were to be administered. It seems now that many side effects are emerging which were unexpected. No parent in their right mind should submit their child to what is in effect an ongong experiment with the health of girls approaching puberty.

ALLIANCE FOR HUMAN RESEARCH PROTECTION: 8 More Deaths Linked to Gardasil HPV Vaccine

    Excerpt -

"(Washington, DC) -- Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today released new documents obtained from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act, detailing 1,824 reports of adverse reactions to the vaccination for human papillomavirus (HPV), Gardasil, including as many as eight deaths related to the vaccine. Judicial Watch had previously obtained 1,637 reports relating to Gardasil on May 15, 2007, bringing the known total to 3,461 adverse reactions including eleven deaths since FDA approval. Among the new information uncovered by Judicial Watch:"

"Mounting concern about the safety of the HPV vaccine targetted at young girls may well have been a factor in Harney's decision to abandon her plan."

Stop spinning. Harney withdrew the plan to save money, whether it will save lives or not. It is a callous decision which will see wealthy parents buy the vaccine, leaving the less well-off exposed to illness and death that could have been prevented. When assessing the performance of any drug, the side effects caused in some people must be weighed against the lives that the drugs saves. All drugs cause adverse reactions in some people, that is not an argument against it's general use. Another point here for real concern is that we have Minister for Health who believes that treatment is better than prevention, or so she has said.

experts for sale get them whilst they are hot

free ,and from the government, it must be good ,"Here's another twist: the Times does mention the fact that the HPV vaccination, Gardasil, is made by Merck & Co. What they don't say is that Governor Rick Perry's former chief of staff is now a lobbyist for Merck and that the company contributed $6,000 to Perry and $38,000 to Texas state legislators last year. You can bet those are two facts that would not have escaped the Times' editorial writers had they been opposed to Perry's decision.Real Clear Politics - News - Elections 2008 - Opinion - Commentary - TIME

Juat some information for posters on the subject.
As of June 30, 2008 VAERS has received a total of 9,749 reports of potential adverse events following HPV vaccination. Ninety-four percent (94%) of these reports were about non-serious adverse events.
Six percent (6%) of adverse events reported for the HPV vaccine were considered serious, which is about half of the average number of serious reports for other vaccines. In comparison, the overall average in VAERS for any serious adverse event following vaccination ranges from 10% to 15%; therefore, the percentage of serious reports for Gardasil® is less than the overall average for other vaccines.
It is important to note that a report to VAERS does not mean there is a connection between the vaccine and the event. It means the event took place following vaccination.
VAERS data are routinely updated, and the number of reports and the type of adverse events will vary depending on the date of analysis. 100 million ,i am nearly convinced myself ,wonder does my stock broker work on saturday"Merck's $100 million television and print advertising campaign last year featured young girls who were jumping rope and chanting ``one less.'' The company's new ads show college-aged women at home with pop music in the background. Interesting Cathal.

Let me be clear HOPI, I can't stand Harney and think there are about a thousand very good reasons why she should never have been appointed to Health, not least of which is the fact that her husband's management consultancy are well stuck into her department and making a very pretty penny out of it too. He also lobbies on behalf of pharmaceutical companies - a constituency to which Harney has been a sort of political prostitute. There is something pretty darned fishy afoot on a day that Harney decides not to do the pharmaceuticals a favour. Her department is a bottomless supply of no-strings-attached money for anyone with the word 'privatisation' tatood across their forehead. Back in 2003, I think it was, she was to be seen at a conference in Boston being congratulated by industry leaders there for 'embracing the culture of failure'. This refers to the thorny difficulty that pharmas have in conducting successful research. Governments, they argue, should understand that it can take a while to develop a saleable product. I think Harney (then Trade and Enterprise minister) was announcing something like 3 billion in subsidies to underwrite this culture of failure. True to form, and while the axe was being wielded left and right on children, those with special needs and the elderly, loadsamoney was nevertheless set aside for 'R&D'. See what I mean? Attorneys in the US are raking it in on lawsuits against Merck because of Gardasil. Google 'lawsuit' and 'Gardasil'. Harney has dodged a googly, imo, under the cover of making savings. She'd rather that than have it come out that the vaccination was a ghastly mistake anyway.

And all of the above is sadly undermined by the fact that VAERS, becuase it is a voluntary reporting system is estimated to be between merely 1 and 4 percent of the true number of adverse side effects. Make no mistake, this vaccine is a stinker - and as a mandatory one not only a digusting experiment on young people's health but a licence to print money for Merck. They don't even know how long the so-called 'protection' is supposed to last, so that (kerching) boosters would be another gravy train a little further down the line.

There you go again trying to make a case that the vaccine is dangerous when in reality you have not a clue about this subject. This vaccine has been approved and a search will throw up various results to indicate that. In addition, the vaccine is being rolled out elsewhere.
Again my point is that Harney did not do a u-turn on this issue because she was concerned for the health of our children, she did it to save money and she has even indicated that when the money position permits, the vaccine will then be made available under the intended programme. In the meantime the wealthy here will have their children vaccinated while the less well off will have to go witghout and there is no doubt some of those will succumb to the deadly disease in due course.
