Key word is voluntary, not mature enough to give that consent and they can more easily be pressured and manipulated into it than an adult can.

You can have sex when you're sixteen and can get msrried with parental consenti.e theoretically if two 16 year olds have sex, the male can be imprisoned for 5 years. In practice such cases are not prosecuted (especially if the couple are married)Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1935

I voted no, but Id like to change that to a yes. Paedophiles are not and should not be illegal. We have to draw a line between wanting something and acting on it.

yes, if she's 17 or over. No if she's not. However, the law recognises that a 15-17 year old can make up their own minds better than an 11 year old can - that's why consenual sex with a 15-17 year old is "unlawful carnal knowledge", and consenual sex with a girl under 15 is "rape"But this girl did it voluntary!

Then it's a case of changing the definition of Paedophilia not legalising it. BTW, can 16 year olds get married?
