4000 attend Health Demo March in Dublin.

That was a decent turnout but not the 70,000 I read about in certain quarters during the week.

Is the opposition "spinning" the Health agenda?

Seriously, what was the point of that march?

I can see the strategy in protesting about a particular health issue, like the campaigns against the Hanley report a few years ago.

But a general march for a better health service? What's that going to achieve? Do they think Harney and the government have been ignoring the health issue up to now?

Some people just like protesting, I guess.

Spinning!!! That's pathetic. A lot of people do not turn up to these marches because they have seen before how pointless theya re becasue governments generally just do not listen. The anti-Israelie bombimg of Lebanon march attracted about 2,000 but got about 30 seconds coverage on RTE. Too mamy agenda out there for a few thousand marchers to be allowed for change.

I heard they were expecting 100,000 myself.

I for one can point to very poor treatment through out third world medical system resulting in the near torture of a close realtive. I don't like talking about it and won't provide detail but I don't see that marching will bear any fruits. People had the chance to vote the ineffective lot out and although they did so with the PDs, they let FF off the hook.

How quickly Green members side with the right-wing government against their former allies and other progressives now that they are in power.

I saw the march go past, and there was definitely more than 4,000 on it!

RTE are stating over 4,000. I think claiming tens of thousands is a serious stretch of 'over 4000.

I've never sided with whingers, NIMBYs, Trade Unionists, hippies and lunatics in general, nor, to the best of my knowledge, am I required to do so by virtue of my membership of the GP.

I joined a political party because I believe that the only way to effect real change is through legislation, which requires representation in the Dail.

To my mind, you might as well be throwing bananas up O'Connell Street as walking up it with a placard in your hand, which has been proved on countless occasions.
