a self appointed, unelected, unwanted quango of individuals with a past history of electoral failure and falling out with people..................they represent no-one whatsoever and really should not be presenting themselves as a representative body...............
The voting records of the two ff td's show clearly the tallaght peoples choice of representation on this matter.....di=ont forget that during the 07 election, Tallaght hospital was a big issue..........
I will watch thru the gates with interest to see how many ordinary voters join the'usual suspects' of the 'thac.'..or maybe 'thick' would be a better reflection..........
I am a member of the THAG, and many of us meet up on Monday nights, and also actively campaign to save our Childrens Hospital. We have been at 3 different Shopping centres in the past 5 weeks - the Square, Mill Centre Clondalkin, and Kilnamanagh. Near 5000 people have now signed the Postcards calling on Mary Harney to keep our Childrens Hospital and Cancer Unit in Tallaght open. Yes built the new Chilsdens hospital in the Mater - We welcomke it with open arms - but that does not, and should not mean Tallaght Childrens hospital is closed. why cant we have both Hospitals open?? the new Mater, and the existing services available at present in Tallaght.
Oh, and Mr JimRyan, you would be suprised at the amount of people who have read our literature and expressed anger at the lies, yes they used that word 'LIES' that they were told, on that issue by Conor Lenihan.
Conor Lenihan walked over to our Stall one Saturday in the Square, and upon reading our leaflet proclaimed it to be all lies. when challenged to point out what bits were liesand why, he promptly made his exit, tail firmly between his legs!

you have problem my Man, maybe a bit of rest in Tallaght Hospital might do you good !!!Originally Posted by drjimryan
I worked in Tallaght Hospital for 4 years, and nowhere has had more problems than Tallaght in opening. From the problems of trying to get workers from 3 "different" parent hospitals to sing off the same hymn sheet, and biffo leaving David McCutcheon high and dry.
As time went on Tallaght has turned into one of the nicest hospital in the country, and despite being the only hospital to fulfill all seven criteria for the location of the new childrens hospital they were turned down for a city centre site at the Mater Hospital. In Bertie's constituency no less. I for one cant wait to bring a sick child with meningitis to the new hospital if Dublin are playing in Croke Park or on All Ireland Final Day.
I will always remember the 4 years i spent working in Tallaght Hospital with fond memories and being a Tallaght man i will defend it too the hilt.
If we're really interested in getting value from our resources and best outcomes for childrens' health services, then we need to concentrate resources. Duplicating facilities is simply a waste of resources. Plus, to be honest, this is a silly issue to be pursuing as if Tallaght needs its own childrens' hospital. People from all over the country will need to access this facility - without a Luas to take them to the city centre.Originally Posted by Larkinite

The majority cannot therefore be the elite.

Just to be clear, Larkinite is very clearly talking about duplication.Originally Posted by hiding behind a poster
By all means lets have a discussion on which is the most suitable site - and if the Mater really is unsuitable, lets see that case. I don't have a fixed opinion on that. But necessary change and concentration of resources in the health services simply does mean some old family favourites getting the axe.
