Unlike addicts to illegal drugs,prescription drug abusers usually look respectable and range from teenagers to the elderly,yet they may be long term abusers of powerful narcotic drugs available on prescription as painkillers.Such abuse of prescriptions is made economic by medical welfare programmes that subsidise prescriptions or provide prescriptions free of charge. It makes you wonder why anybody would buy unsafe street drugs at high prices.
