Tonight's programme has just opened with this headline. Isn't this just a tad over the top? Is this responsible journalism? From what is normally the most reputable political TV programme in this country.

primetime went to the dogs ages ago, go to any boozer ya want tonight + count how many are swilling back the pints, not very many!!!
But aren't they drinking (sorry, drowning) at home?
who knows what people are doing at home....the major retailers here reveal very little detail of how much they sell cos they dont want their compeditors knowing whats going on. maybe go stand in a q at your local tesco/dunnes etc + see everybody with trolloys laden with booze and that will answer the home drinking thing....
Tonight on Brass Eye...

Well, considering the rise of liver disease and other deaths related to alcohol, it seems time that the government down south needs to do something.

Small children. No one tells you that they not only end your sex life, but they cut your drinking to pioneer levels.
To be honest, I think I miss the drink more...
We are all born mad. Some remain so.
And I, Antonius Block, am playing chess with Death!
If you lived in Cork you'd drink excessively too.Originally Posted by Nem

I didn't see Prime Time this evening but I agree it has gone to the gutter for quite some time. Can't comment anymore on the standard of presenters though - got a warning from Dave last time.
I do however, agree with the sentiments of the headline. The facts speak for themselves, the level of liver disease in this country is rocketing, as I'm sure are all the other associated side effects of excess alcohol consumption. Individuals in this society do need to reflect upon priorities sometimes in my opinion.
I hear ya! And I used to be able to drink three bottles of whiskey with only mild hospitalisation afterwards.Originally Posted by Estragon
