Well, if they didn't put time and effort in to establishing the actual costs of delivering the project, the proposal should be binned!

The other hurdle facing the delivery of this project is funding. Two hundred million is expected to come from the sale of the National Lottery (and whether the Troika will allow it is another thing), and they've still to source an estimated €431m more to deliver on the project!

That may explain the delay - if the Mater is the best option, they have to get the planning right before they announce it - it may be an effort to avoid another cock up rather than a conspiracy.

So the hospital site with the longest list of petition signatures will win the day?

It just gets better.....there are two staff who are still employed on the NCH project team who are receiving a combined salary of €250,000 between them. Dr. Curtis who is a consultant in AMNCH receives a monthly salary of €14k a month on top of her consultants pay of €170k pa. She is currently seconded from her consultant post to work three days a week as a medical director on the NCH development board. Jim Farragher on the otherhand receives €6k a month in respect to his role as financial director and CEO of the new NCH development board.

Why wasn't the work of the National Paediatric Hospital Development Board temporarily halted until such time that Reilly actually decided on where the hospital will be located?

I just noticed that. I suppose that it would be too much to expect any of these people to provide their services pro-bono!

Indeed...the last report talks of the planning epxperts put in place to ensure no planning issues at the Mater site...would love to do the calcualtion on how much these muppets cost you and thee!!..

Have tried to raise it....but no-one willing to bite!!
    may try again come Sept...
Maybe RBB and his ilk this time...the rest seem uninterested!!

maybe our new communities editor could enquire in the Paper of record...and get some-one to ask the relevant questions??

No it would not be too much to expect.

I wonder if the cabinet will discuss the location in the coming days and have the courage to make a decision.

    NAAS

Best between Naas and Sallins Rail station. And on the M7. As close as possible to the "Naas Ball" sculpture.

On the road that joins four of the five largest cities in Ireland. And near a train than connects to the missing one of the top five.

    It really is that simple.
