    Bill allowing for abortion introduced

AN OPPOSITION Bill to allow for limited access to abortion has been formally introduced in the Dáil. The Medical Treatment (Termination of Pregnancy in Case of Risk to Life of Pregnant Woman) Bill was moved by Socialist Party TD Clare Daly and will be debated in Private Member’s time.

Ms Daly is seeking to introduce the legislation to “provide for termination of pregnancy where a real and substantial risk to the life of the pregnant woman exists” and to make provision “for the prevention of any curtailment, hindrance or preclusion of such treatment that may arise as a result of the pregnancy of the woman”.

How soon will the hysteria burst upon us all again?

Fair play to Ms Daly by the way. High time legislation was introduced, properly debated and passed.

It is indeed hard for the strong to be just to the weak, but acting justly always has its rewards.
