They way I see it is that most GP's are money grabbing parasites and don't give a toss about the peasants they care for. Alot of them still live in the days were people treated them likes gods!
Well god or no god if they are charging me 60euro for just the prescription to get an anti biotic that I already know I need then they are robbing you and they are not even wearing a mask AND before anyone pipes in with the usual 'people are over using anti-biotics and that is why there are so many bugs' line please understand that my leg would have to be falling off before I'd go to the doctors so if I go knowing that I need an anti-biotic then I really do need one.
Also people are more educated and I don't just mean academically speaking, I'm talking about the world of information we have with the internet so the GP's really need to cop on to themselves and start changing how they treat their customers.

Incredible free advertising, seeing as €40 isn't actually the massive discount the media seem to assume it is. Many surgeries in Kerry would be charging €45 anyway.

If they're private-only, €40 is robbery; dunno if they are.

My most frequent post on this subforum needs repeating again:

DON'T PAY 60 EURO. Change doctor. You WILL find someone charging 50 for less anywhere in the country.

Cool! And while we're at it. Why the hell do we need those electrician parasites. Sure when I know my house needs to be rewired, hell I'll go do it myself - no problem; how hard can it be?. Brain tumor! No problem a bit of WD40, a pliars and a few minutes drilling and hey presto out she pops. I mean I'm not going to go operate on myself unless I go in knowing I really need to!. We've too much deference to knowledge and experience in this country by far....

Doctors study for long periods - at least seven years study and clinical experience for the basic qualification. AFAIK GPs have a further four years t do before setting up as a GP.

Consultants have to do further many years clinical experience and exams before as piring to be cnsultants - usually those who started college at 17/18 may still be studying into their thirties.

If I or one of my family were ill I would need a good experienced doctor, not a cheap one.

I would not rely on the internet, wikipaedia, or the local herbalist for medical advice.
