The Government and the Health Service Executive (HSE) have been accused of an endemic cover-up of the problems with child protection services.
Fine Gael’s published a report into the death of a teenage girl in 2002.
The party says the report is a damning indictment of childcare and protection services as it shows the failure to intervene and act.
Fine Gael Children’s spokesperson Alan Shatter says the problem is that the lessons from the mistakes of the past may not have been learned.
“It is unforgivable that a young girl died in 2002, and in 2010 most of the recommendations made to change the system – to ensure other young people in care don’t die – are still not implemented” he said.

The abuse of children in State care continues and the Government has been shown to be engaging in a cover-up and the suppression of reports.
