@Joel contraception becomes an issue when its not correctly used or advised on. its surprising that quite mature ladies don't seek advice and instead allow complacency (and danger tbh) be a decisive factor if they're involved.

Putting money into preventing pregnancies among older people is stupid. Most of them will put their hands up and raise the child comfortably. In any case at the age of 35 to 40 if you dont' know better or havent learned this type of thing from watching Eastenders then chances are you never will. This is exactly what society needs. Mature people should be encouraged to have babies and raise them. They will mostly have the disposable income to do so. Its' the teen pregnancies which are the issue.
For some of us, age is not a contraceptive, for others it definitely is! Some women are infertile by their late 30s, others maintain an excellent ovarian reserve and are capable of conceiving into their late 40s and even early 50s.
Access to hormone tests to gauge fertility would be valuable. Some women could then stop taking the pill by 40 and/or decide to have children earlier in life (if it's an option); others would know that they need to be very careful right up to menopause!
do people get contraception advice from Eastenders? Anyway other issues include STIs, the right type of contraception and common problems in later pregnancies.
Yeah,But it is the no hopers who are breeding like rabbits while the educated middle class are on the career ladder.
Even with todays medical advances the surest way to have a healthy baby is to have it before the age of 29 and with someone from a gene pool as far removed from yours as possible. You can't substitute for the vigor of the crossbred. That is why eventually the USA will recover and lead the world again.Their gene mix is enormous.Paddies, Chinks, Spicks, Poles, Krauts Wasps, Afros and "wet backs" to name but a few.
