Wakefield acted unethically and irresponsibly in his desperate efforts to 'prove' that there was a link between autism and the MMR vaccine according to the Medical Council in UK. His research efforts included removal of spinal fluid from children when there was no clinical indication along with carrying out ileal colonoscopy without having expertise in the area or any normal clinical requirement to proceed with such investigative procedures.
He was already being paid by a firm of solicitors at the time of such work who were trying to obtain evidence to mount a lawsuit against vaccine MMR.
It remains to be decided if he will now be struck off the medical register.
All in all a good days work.

The GMC were not investigating whether his research was right or wrong!
The literature shows that he was wrong. In abundance.
A technicality you say? Subjecting innocent children to uneccasary and potentially dangerous procedures while in the pay of a legal firm involved in taking acase against the MMR vaccine.
If this was big Pharma, say testing a new flu vaccine by carrying out unecessary and dangerous procedures on innocent children you would be up in arms!

No surprise there. You need to look elsewhere for the truth. That report even quotes Dr Michael Fitzpatrick of Spiked Online, an offshoot of the Living Marxism group.

The witchhunt against Wakefield was led by journalist Brian Deer, egged on by the British medical establishment, and popularized by journalist Dr Ben Goldacre.

The funny thing is that Wakefield was a pro-vaccination doctor. He's probably more sceptical about vaccines now.

Nobody needs MMR. In fact nobody needs any vaccine.

The evidence that MMR is safe doesn't stand up to scrutiny. Among those not convinced is Dr Bernadine Healy, probably America's most respected medical expert.
