There are no drug treatments for autism. So the Pharma giants dont pick up here.

What does exist is a whole mini-industry of quacks who offer unsubstantiated alternative 'treatments' for autism. From my experience they charge quite handsomely for it.
They market all sorts of alternative pills and therapies without any independent research to show
    a) any scientific basis for their use
    b) any effectiveness
That is where the disgrace lies.
There is no 'cure' for autism.
Insane theories like 'chelation' therapy that have killed children.
I do have a personal interest in this area by the way and I am not at all pleased with your attempt to turn this back on me when it is self-evident that it is the quacks who are making the money.
I am also fully aware of not for voluntary organisations in this jurisdiction that do stirling work for children with autism and their families. They earn nothing for their efforts and offer no quack treatments or slimy American 'cures'.

    Are There Medications for Autism?
    No medication can cure autism.

That said, however, there are a variety of drugs that treat selected symptoms that may or may not be part of a particular individual's autism. For example, some individuals with autism are extremely anxious, and thus may be prescribed an antidepressant such as Zoloft or Prozac

If you read the contraindications for any medicinal product you will find a similar list. I include in this such life changing drugs as aspirin, penicillin and the smallpox vaccine. Drug companies are mandated to include every single possible contraindication even if it affected only 1 single person out of 1 billion users. This in itself is not a reason to avoid taking a medicinal product under medical supervision.

Dangerous quackery for whom? the drug companies who would lose out on drug sales?

Many parents have had success with this treatment - why not go tell them face to face what treatment they may try or may not try?

Boy with autism dies after chelation therapy - Autism: The Hidden Epidemic?- msnbc.com
    according to the article:

Abubakar Tariq Nadama, 5, had received his third treatment of chelation therapy at a doctor’s office Tuesday before going into cardiac arrest, said Deputy Coroner Larry Barr.

The staff at Dr. Roy E. Kerry’s office performed CPR on the boy, but he was later pronounced dead in a hospital, Barr said. More tests would be needed to determine the cause of death, he said.

The boy’s mother, Marwa Nadama, said she didn’t blame the therapy, but was waiting for test results.

It is well known also that autistic children can have many accompanying underlying health issues.

Shame on you for trying to spin this like the chelation therapy was to blame - when the facts are not even out yet.

The article is dated August 2005

    Here's a follow up
    Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
A 5-year-old autistic boy who went into cardiac arrest in his doctor's office died as a result of the controversial chelation therapy he was receiving as a treatment for his autism.

Nope, that's entrenched ignorance speaking. Chelation covers a wide span of data and usage.

Anti-biotics are chelators of Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions. Chelators are commonly used industrially in water treatment programs and in food preservation.

I get intravenese chelation for longevity and general health once a month. I haven't been sick for 15 years. Fortunately for me, i'm already aware that my genetic code is already wired to automatically defend me against invading microorganisms. I don't need pharmaceutical company's to make my body work.

Knowingly injecting squalene, SV 40 and thermasol into your bloodstream is blatent quackery.
