    25% increase in patients on trolleys in 2 years

    according to the INO:

    - since November 2004 the numbers of patients on trolleys in regional hospitals has doubled
    - the numbers of patients on trolleys in Dublin remained static showing no real improvement in 2006 on the 2004 figures
    - An over 25% increase in numbers of patients on trolleys overall in the last 2 years

    how the hell does this tally with the repeated line from the progressive democrats that numbers on trolleys have fallen by up to 40% ????
    says a lot for harneys fabled "10 point plan"

    But FT's been telling us that the number of patients on trolleys has fallen by 600%.

    Well considering the fact that we still have less beds then in 1981 and a lot more people, it isn't that shocking is it.

    Not that the nurses looking for a pay hike & a 35 hour week would have anything to do with the release of these figures, perish the thought, besides before posting I’m sure you’ve brought all your critical faculties to bare.

    As opposed to the PDs desperately trying to get reelected and actually still being "a hole in the wall" political party after the upcoming election.

    Rover, you really are a clown. The 40% reduction was an INO statement, see below;

    Irish Nurses Organisation

    INO A&E Analysis Confirms Reduction In The Number Of Patients On Trolleys In
    Dublin. 11/10/06

    PRESS RELEASE, Wednesday, 11th October, 2006

    The INO, following a detailed analysis of the Organisation’s trolley watch
    figures (see attached table), for the period 1st June to 30th September this
    year, as compared to the same period in 2005, has found:

    a 40% reduction in the daily average number of patients, on trolleys waiting
    for an in-patient bed, in Dublin;

    a slight increase in patients on trolleys in, A&E Departments outside of
    Dublin, particularly in Letterkenny, Drogheda, Cork, Limerick and Mayo.
    While welcoming the significant reduction in Dublin the INO warns against
    complacency and, in particular, calls on the government and Health Service
    Executive to make the necessary further resources available to address the
    specific problems of the hospitals outside of Dublin where overcrowding
    continues to increase.

    the health service is a complete disaster and getting worse, had the misfortune to spend many hours in the poxy mater recently with my father no one will answer simple questions and the language barrier is a major problem.
