So, it's back to my OP. Do you have any comment on Arthur's blog post? I'll quote the entire thing for you again ...

"Given the complete abscence of the GP Parliamentary Party from the Joint Finance Committee hearing on NAMA, one is forced to conclude that the Greens are a dead ‘fish’ in Irish politics; present, visible, floating on the top but contributing nothing, achieving nothing, slowly rotting. I do hope John and Eamon managed to achieve a pretty arrangement of the ‘Green’ deckchairs that day, so that they have some happy memories of their useless time in Govt. At the first public debate on the topic of what is acknowledged by one and all as the biggest financial committment of the State ever and the determinant of our prosperity for the next 15 years, we had nothing to say. Previously, I have been sad or unhappy or dissapointed but have tried to work with the ‘grain’ of the PP’s program. As of now, I am disgusted and angry."

I am not saying any of this ... Arthur Doohan is, so I fail to see why you are personalising this thread and attacking me.

So lets get back OT. I think what Doohan is saying is interesting for a few reasons. Do you have any comment or opinion? If you do not have any comment/opinion I will assume you are trolling this thread and attempting to derail the discussion on the OP.

    Well then, where to start.

I'll begin by humouring your pretense that you want a reasonable discussion and tell you what I think. Then I will point out why I take offense at these threads and allow you to respond. When you don't acknowledge my point I will simply put you on ignore and that will be the end of you. This will be the very first time I've done it to anyone so do feel special about it.

Firstly, there are two seperate points here. One is the disappointment that Arthur feels at the greens performance in government and the other is their failure to turn up at the debate.

On Arthur's disappointment. Two years ago the green party had a debate in Dublin on whether or not it should go into government. They were given a full briefing of what the deal was and had several hours to pour over a large document. I know - I was there. The party membership was warned that it would not get everything, in fact only a small percentage of our policies would be enacted. To reinforce the idea of the new world we were embarking upon we were treated to our very first protestors outside the gates. This was particularly unerving as previously it would have been us doing the protesting. The party voted hugely in favour of the deal. The policies we wanted in have largely been implemented and we got our ministers.

To say now, actually the deal sucks, is an attempt to project his own responsibility onto the party's leaders. Every single green party member is responsible for the state of the party, not just the leadership who were (and here's the critical point) - told to go forth by the membership. That includes Arthur Doolan.

On the subject of why no green party reps were at that debate I will have to be as honest as I can be - I don't know. I do not have access to those who should have been there to ask them why they did not go. Perhaps they felt it was too early to attend such a debate before the Sept 12th meeting where the members will be briefed and will debate the points and reach a decision - again. But that's just my conjecture at this point.

And now to you. You have continually started green bashing threads, again and again, of this type. You have accused the leadership of being dishonest, FF-lite and continually smeared individuals. On another thread you have even lowered youself to attacking them through their family connections. So I bid you to answer for this. Explain yourself and your smears.

You sir are a troll and a bad one at that. My finger hovers over the ignore key which members of your species know with dread as it cuts them off from the attention they crave so very much.

Oh - and Eorna, you can simply go to hell.

What was that Eorna? I'm afraid I can't hear you old boy.

Ocenfrog - I'll be around for another half hour or so but I need to catch a flight after that. Yes, yes - greens and flying and hypocricy and so on - start it on another thread already. If you don't reply by then I'll wait until tomorrow. Due to unforeseen circumstances you may have to be satisfied with being second on that list.

Yes ...that was what I was asking you to comment on.

    Thank you for your comments.

I fail to see why you are personalising this and attacking me. It seems to be a typical Green tactic on these forums to indulge in thick knecked bluster and waffling, and shout "troll" when anyone says anything even slightly critical of the Green Party.

    That is very telling.

It is also telling that you are accusing me and others on this thread of trolling. Do you even know what trolling means? The only ones trolling and attempting to derail this thread are your good self, SPN, and goosebump.

So please, please put me on ignore. That way you wont have to suffer my threads. And I wont have to suffer your faux outrage, bluster, and trolling/attempted derailment. It's a win-win situation!!!

As I predicted you failed to even acknowledge your continual starting of these threads and the fact that there is nothing "slightly critical" about your smear campaign. You are dishonest and I won't waste my time on you again.

Look marascal, I'm attempting to keep this thread on topic ... that is all. I'm sick of threads being trolled and derailed on this website, and particurarly on the Green Party forum.

I have never said "that there is nothing slightly critical" about my posts on the Greens in Govt ... they have been very critical. As for my other thread on this forum today (the first I have started in over 3 weeks btw), I was simply pointing out the very close family relationships between some in the Green Party and promiment members of FF. How is that critical? I was not attacking anyone thro their family Methinks you may be protesting too much on that one!

I appreciate your answer/comments on what Doohan said. I dont appreciate the personal attacks you have made on me and your attempted trolling of this thread. This is increasingly looking like a Green tactic on these forums, and your actions today have just confirmed that to me. And thats a pity, because it looks like you have something interesting to say. It just gets lost in all the bluster, faux outrage, trolling and accusations. Pity.

Actually he is one of the most incompetent, ignorant fools of a politician who has an illiterate understanding of his brief and is utterley blinded by his quasi-religious creationist type belief in "saving the planet" to understand either energy or climate change

It is because of his utter ineptitude that he has kept energy prices too high and he is in the pocket of the Big Global warming industry.

Hopefully he will disappear up a wind turbine soon
