    Protestors outside Green party conference

Just walked past the Hilton Hotel on Charlemont Place (where the Greens are meeting) and there is a small but loud group of protestors outside. I came home, googled the protest and found this :-

Protest at the Green Party special conference.
Join the protest at the Green Party special conference this Saturday July 18th at 9.30am

Protest the party's betrayal of Shell to Sea, Tara, the Anti-War movement, the anti Incinerator campaigns, the education system, the health system, human and civil rights, animal rights etc. etc.

By January they will have cut the dole, made thousands redundant, further restricted civil rights, betrayed the elderly and the sick, implemented college fees and driven thousands onto emigrant boats and planes.

Be there so they cannot say we did not speak.

    The Green Party conference lasts.

From: 10:00 am To: 06:00 pm
Location: Hilton Hotel, Charlemont Place, Dublin 2
Picket the Green Party Conference - Indymedia Ireland

Reckon there was about a dozen people protesting and nearly as many bystanders.

I saw TV cameras there when I walked past so you might get your ugly mug on the news.

Poor Green Party. Their fellow travellers will never be happy. Actually feel sorry for them today.

I went out of the conference at lunch to have a chat with the protesters - there were only a handful - and listen to what they had to say. Nice group of people, but they didn't have very much to say, and the lady in the megaphone wouldn't stop chanting so conversation was made difficult.

Identifying the dozen or so young people standing in front of the hotel as the conscience of the green party might be stretching it slightly...

This is typical of Green philosophy, especially the anti war and Shell to Sea brigade. Against everything, protest at the drop of a hat but never try to provide solutions. These 'Green' protesters are really just agitators. I am no fan of the party but if you cannot go inside and provide constructive criticism and some solutions then go home and stop making noise. All you will achieve is to frighten children and upset tourists.

The megaphone lady had an impressive set of lungs alright.
