Eamon Ryan doesn't understand economic effects of threatened taxes

Eamon Ryan was on the radio this morning, trying to "talk up" the economy - saying how important it is for people to feel confidant about the economy so they would go out and start spending. For a few moments I thought....yes - he actually gets it. But then he went and again started talking about more new and higher taxes to come in the winter budget.
Does he not understand - and does nobody in the government or the Green Party - get it - that threatening higher taxes to come, is the one thing that kills off consumer confidence.

It doesnt actually make sense for a Green Minister to encourage people to go and buy comsumer goods !
The more we consume the more harmful emissions we generate. This is one of the contradictions Green politiicians seem reluctant to acknowledge or confront.

    Public servants consume too!

    Social Welfare recipients consume too!

Those two groups spend €40 Billion a year.

If you don't pay it in tax, they can't spend it. Be reasonable.

I don't like Mr Ryan. But I don't consider him stupid. I suppose I don't really consider him to be an intellectual either. I think he's devious and cunning.

It may well be that he's attempting to frighten people into splurging before new taxes decrease spending power. That way, before his government turn the thumbscrews that much tighter, it can be argued that the economy is recovering, thanks to the steps they've already taken.

That would be devilish clever...but perhaps too devilishly clever for the clever devils in question.

It's say the sheer amount that Eamon Ryan dosn't understand would stun an ox.

I agree. They haven't got 2 brain cells between them all when it comes to the economy.

    Good grief man

Ryan is the reason you are paying so much extra above the norm for electricity/energy in Ireland

This fool is happy to give exploration licenses away for nought instead of negoiating a share in whats found at least in a similar manner to the way that the Norwegian Gov did

But of course when you are a "Ryan" you will push a re-newable agenda to look after his friends in the Global Warming industry, there are bucks to made by politicians promoting a "green" agenda. It is in his interest to promote the Global warming renewable guff to gullible fools.
