How might they have prevented oil prices reaching $147/bbl?

How might they have prevented the Sub-Prime situation in the US?

How might they have retrospectively regulated global Hedge Funds?

How might they have prevented the collapse of Fréres Lehman?

How might they have prevented gobsheen Councillors up and down the Country from granting excessive rezonings?

If you think the economy wasn't on the rocks in 2007 you are living in a parallel universe.

The Greens can't even do the most importantly symbolic acts of all such as crapping all oireachtas pensions and expenses and allowances and make TDs accountable. IF they even did one thing - to reform the Dáil and make oireachtas members relevant and accountable and transparent - then they might have done the state some service.
The problem there is that Fine Gael and Labour keep refusing to make these necessary changes. Ask them to support Dan Boyle in his campaign for Dáil reform, and maybe you'll see your wish come true.

As it is, they haven't even done that and the one thing Gormless seems to be proud of he had to backtrack on - the lightbulbs.
Personally, I'd see the 40% improvement in Part L of the Building Regulations as being much more important, and I know the Minister sees Local Government Reform, and the New Planning Act as being the most omportant things he has done to date.

The only people who go on about lightbulbs are people outside the Greens.

In what way did he backtrack?

You'd find more backbone in a jellyfish than a Green TD.
The dirty little deal between Dick Roche and the GP just before they entered govt in 2007 was perhaps the most shameful thing the GP have ever done.

Lets hear one of the Green fanboi idiots here defend that one.

If you are, just have a look at the GP party political broadcast from 2007. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvtUeSjzYL0"]Green Party LIES 2007 [/ame]. Everything promised has been backtracked on. Everything.

You can take the issues of Tara and Shannon up with all the other Political Parties who supported them (FF/FG/PD/Lab, and FF/FG/PD respectively).

The Incinerators were killed off when Minister Gormley made it illegal for Local Authorities to enter into put-or-pay contracts. Without these guaranteed revenue streams no Bank is going to fund them - even if the Banking system gets back to mid-decade levels of liquidity.

If the economy was on the rocks in 2007, why did they join FF in implementing FFs Programme for Government ?
Why did they not give us a Charlie Haughey type ' We are living beyond our means ' after settling in to office ?

Can you list each item that they implemented that the government were not obliged to implement under EU rules? Bullet points please.

Why defend something that never happened?

Sometimes I think you are even stupider than you let on.

    Wonderful, says it all.
Hope none of those kids will have to use Crumlin Hospital.

The Greens of course will be forever tagged as the Party that refused cancer vacines to 12 cyear old kids.
If the greens had fought as hard for vacines as they are for another Seanad seat, it would have been government policy.
