Two Green Women have gone in close proximity to elections-???

    Oscar Wilde comes to mind...

    http://www.politics.ie/green-party/4...ts-greens.html

What political party in this country has had two women resign in such close proximity to elections ?

Maybe they feel unappreciated, but what political party would lose an experienced Dublin Councillor
and an ex Member of the European parliament? It seems rather remiss of the leadership to be letting
women of calibre and experience slip the net.

I know there is a Mc Kenna thread already on the issue; but I am interested in the fact that I cannot
think of one political party that seems to underuse it's experienced politicians in such a manner
(except maybe rumblings from some of the FF women).

last night I watched in horror as Ms de Burca, (the slimline Green) went on national telly
and criticised her colleague and party-worker and was given a national Platform for the
pleasure, whilst Mc Kennaites had to make do with grainy file pictures.

Well good luck to Bronwen and Pat, two new Independents. I reckon they will need it ,
with their ex-colleagues spitting like a sack of cats on National Media.

Bronwen quite last year, not 'right before the election'. Patricia wasn't on the news because no one could get through to her on he phone, all the news stations tried.

l don't appreciate De Burca's acidity, nor would I consider her an adequate replacement for Mc Kenna in the EU .
Bronwen timed her departure well imo.

On the other hand, there are those of us who are glad to have a Green candidate to vote for who is not McKenna.

    the 'yes' woman

l am intrigued at the parliamentary party's supplanting an experienced e.u representative with an obviously banal and non-threatening 'yes' woman, it suggests inadequate leadership (meow)

McKenna has been shooting herself regularly in the feet, though. She was a drug on the market at the last election - 1,995 first preferences to de Burca's 4,790. Not undeserved considering her idiotic stance on vaccination.

More Brendan Behan than Oscar Wilde - the first thing on the agenda being the split. I guess the Greens now have a provisional Green Party. Or would it be the Recycled Politician Party?

It suggests cop-on to me, for two common sense reasons:

    - McKenna lost her seat in Dublin in 2004 - badly. And that was when there were 4 seats for the taking. And she'd topped the poll in 1994 when she first got in.

    - McKenna wasn't even able to get ratifed by her local group in the Glasnevin area to run for the local council for 2009. If the local grassroots group (not sinister autocrat Gormley et al) don't even have confidence in her to run for the local council, how likely is she to succeed running as a Green for Europe.
