    New Docklands Authority Chair.....Niamh Brennan

John Gormley will appoint Niamh Brennan later today.

It's because of her expertise in corporate governance apparently.

Good choice in that she is
    1) A very straight shooter
    2) Very bright
    3) Well versed in the area

Perhaps a little too academicky though ...

Green Party sources in Government last night portrayed the decision as an example of a conscious and deliberate strategy by its two Ministers not to engage in political cronyism when making appointments to the boards of State bodies.
“Given the political history between Mr Gormley and Mr McDowell, Ms Brennan might have been almost the last person you would have imagined would have been appointed.
Though all said ... it would get very, very, very interesting if she turned her forensic accounting guns on the DDDA itself ...

Interesting appointment all the same. But then hubby was supposed to be very bright too. I don't doubt her ability, academic or otherwise but would the ordinary folk see it that way. Chinese walls and all that.

Why can't you cycle on the footpath like everyone else?. Are Limerick footpaths not good enough for you?.

A good appointment by John Gormley, but his second time in less that a few months to appoint a person with a pd background to the chair of the Dublin Docklands Authority.
